In addition to fabric and zippers, the quality of handle and wheel material are important to a telescoping suitcase. Telescoping handles can be made of aluminum or iron which creates different thicknesses of the tube, affecting the product durability and the price. Aluminum tube is lighter and stronger but also more expensive. In contrast, iron tube is cheaper but declines more quickly. Magnets would stick to iron but not aluminum, so customers can use magnets to determine the material by using a magnet. Telescoping handles can be designed to extend to different lengths to allow customers to select a comfortable option for their height.

Wheels can be selected from the environmentally friendly PU wheel or the PVC wheel. PU wheels are often used on suitcases because this material is more suitable for use on flat surfaces. In contrast, PVC wheels are suitable for rough surfaces because PVC wheels are more durable at the cost of being less environmentally friendly. The bearing within the wheels affects how smoothly the wheels roll as well as the durability.
